ASKED BY NEIGHBORS · ANSWERED PLAINLY
Ask us anything. We'll answer it straight.
These are the questions folks actually ask us — usually standing in the garage that's too hot. If yours isn't here, call and a real person will answer it.
Mini-splits
What is a mini-split, in plain words?
It's a small unit that mounts on the wall and heats and cools one room or building — no ductwork needed. There's a quiet box outside, a slim unit inside, and a remote. That's the whole system.
Will it really heat in winter too?
Yes. The same unit heats in winter and cools in summer. For a garage, workshop, or add-on room, it's one machine for the whole year.
What size unit do I need?
Tell us the room — square footage, ceiling height, how much sun it gets — and we'll tell you what fits. Here's the part most people don't hear: bigger is not better. An oversized unit runs badly and never dries the air out, and in East Texas humidity that matters as much as the temperature. We'll point you at the right size, not the biggest one. And if you already know exactly what you need, we'll get you the unit and stay out of your way.
Water (coming soon)
My well water smells like sulfur and stains the tubs. Can you fix that?
It's treatable — but we have to be straight with you: we aren't selling water systems yet. Reverse osmosis and whole-home filtration are what we're setting up to offer next. Call and tell us about your water and you'll be first on the list when it's live.
What's the difference between reverse osmosis and a whole-home system?
Reverse osmosis is a small system under the kitchen sink that gives you clean drinking water from that one tap. A whole-home system treats every tap in the house — filtration and softening that protects your water heater and ends the smell. Neither is something we can sell you today; both are coming.
Pricing & how we work
What does it cost?
An honest answer: it depends on the unit your room needs, so we won't throw a number out sight unseen. Call and tell us the room and you'll have a straight number in one conversation — and that number is the number you pay when you come pick it up. As a rule of thumb, a mini-split costs a fraction of replacing a whole central system.
Who does the installation?
Whichever way suits you. Plenty of folks put these in themselves — we'll tell you exactly what's involved before you buy. And if you'd like a hand, we'll help you get it in and walk it through with you.
How long does the install take?
Most single-room mini-splits go in over a day. We don't call it done until the unit is running and you know how to work the remote.
Do you come to my area?
Pickup is in Livingston. Install trips run anywhere within about 75 miles — Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity, Tyler & Walker counties and the whole Lake Livingston area. Not sure if that's you? Reach out — it probably is.
Will someone try to sell me more than I need?
No. No pushy sales talk — that's a house rule. If your room needs less than you feared, we'll tell you so. And the number we quote is the number you pay — nobody moves it on you later.
